DWSC is a not for profit organization run by volunteers. All income from membership fees shall be used to subsidize the events and activities of the society, including publicity and presence at Fan Cons. Any additional income shall be donated to charity. The DWSC shall support one charity; the coordinating committee shall review this charity annually.

5. The Coordinating Committee
The group will be named The Doctor Who Society of Canada (hereafter DWSC).
The DWSC exists to be a social network for fans of Doctor Who and its associated series’, providing social interaction and access to material that supports and encourages our common interest in Doctor Who.
Doctor Who, its associated images, symbols, characters and publicity materials are copyright BBC or their associated creators and designers.
DWSC will always seek to obtain permission when using copyrighted material and will never use these materials for commercial purposes. Sources will be acknowledged wherever possible and no copyright infringement is intended in our use of Doctor Who related images and material.
The Coordinating committee shall consist of the founding members of the society for as long as they wish to serve. The Committee shall be free to appoint any other members they deem appropriate or helpful, to broaden the leadership of the society and bring necessary skills to the group.
The committee shall similarly appoint a treasurer to the DWSC to carefully track all income, expenditure and donations.
The minimum age for participation in the planning committee shall be 19.
The Committee may appoint sub-groups to work on particular events or tasks as necessary (e.g. FanExpo / Con booths); these may be permanent committees which serve an ongoing function, or an ad-hoc committee which will serve a limited term in order to accomplish a particular function.
The committee alone shall designate events as activities of the DWSC.
Membership in the DWSC shall be extended to any person regardless of, gender, sexual orientation, race, national origin, or religion. There shall be two levels of membership in the DWSC-
These members will have an online presence through the DWSC discussion forum and may attend age-appropriate social events.
(Junior - Ages 13-18 years old / Adult - 19 years old or over)
Upon the payment of the annual membership fee, Full Members shall receive a number of benefits which include but may not be limited to:
· Receive a membership card
· Receive the DWSC newsletter
· Receive advance notice of events and first ticket rights or discounts.
· Access to an annual ‘Members Only’ event.
We may not accept registrations to children under the age of 13. Adult members with children are welcome to bring their children to appropriate events.
Junior Members can upgrade to a Senior Membership upon their 19th birthday. Proof of age must be provided.
Memberships will be sold on an annual basis September-August with FanExpo in August being our main point of sale.
All members or users of the DWSC shall be expected while online or in person at DWSC events, to help us maintain an environment that is safe, friendly, and supportive for all.
Any activity that harms or disrupts that environment or which counteracts the stated mission or terms of service of DWSC is a violation of membership and may result in loss of membership and online access.
This includes but is not limited to the following:
· Posting or distributing illegal, obscene, profane, defamatory, or threatening content.
· Displaying discrimination or intolerance based on colour, creed, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.
· Violating intellectual property rights
· Impersonating any individual
· Harassing other members in public or private;
· Violating user privacy (such as by posting private communications or airing details of private disputes);
· Attacking, insulting, or speaking harshly to or about other members;
· Submitting spam or other unsolicited advertisements for goods or services.
The DWSC shall provide clear terms of service and a behavioural policy on all its participatory online sites.
